Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the operating room
• Perform accurate pre-op assessments and prepare patients for surgery
• Maintain sterile field and adhere to strict aseptic technique throughout procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and the OR team to coordinate efficient care
• Advocate for patients and families, ensuring comfort and clear communication
• Document perioperative care accurately and timely in the patient record
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Louisiana (or compact state privileges where applicable)
• Operating Room nursing experience (perioperative experience preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Familiarity with sterile technique, surgical instrumentation and perioperative protocols
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• CNOR certification is a plus but not required

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred where available.

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing practices and sterile processing
• Knowledge of OR workflows, patient safety and time-out procedures
• Skilled in patient assessment, intraoperative monitoring and documentation
• Strong situational awareness and ability to anticipate surgical team needs
• Teamwork, adaptability and calm under pressure
