Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care to trauma, burn, and surgical ICU patients in a fast-paced unit
• Perform advanced wound care, manage EVDs, and participate in massive transfusion protocols when needed
• Closely monitor patients in a 2:1 ICU ratio, rapidly assess changes, and escalate concerns
• Lead and coordinate resuscitations and codes, working seamlessly with the multidisciplinary team
• Document care accurately in Meditech and maintain clear, timely communication with providers and families
• Float to related units such as MSICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, or PCU as patient needs require
• Mentor colleagues, contribute to a team-based environment, and proactively offer help when the unit needs it

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• ICU experience with Trauma, Burn or Surgical ICU strongly preferred
• Minimum clinical experience as noted by the facility; strong critical thinking and communication skills
• BSN preferred; CCRN and other critical care certifications are a plus
• Comfortable with critical care equipment, wound care, EVDs, MTPs, and 2:1 patient ratios
• Experience with Meditech or similar EMR preferred
• Able to work nights and meet the 2 weekends per pay period requirement

Education

• Active RN license in good standing
• BSN preferred
• CCRN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced critical care nursing and bedside assessment
• Wound care techniques and management of complex wounds
• Familiarity with EVD management and massive transfusion protocols
• Competence with critical care monitors and life support equipment
• Strong clinical judgment, situational awareness, and prioritization
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and the care team
• Teamwork, adaptability, and the ability to float across related ICU areas
