Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate care for up to five orthopedic post-op patients with autonomy and clinical confidence
• Perform post-operative nursing procedures such as dressing changes and aspiration with attention to safety and infection control
• Administer and monitor pain management plans to promote patient comfort and recovery
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Meditech to support continuity and quality metrics
• Collaborate closely with the unit team, charge nurse, and interdisciplinary partners to deliver excellent patient outcomes
• Monitor patient status, escalate changes promptly, and participate in handoffs that keep everyone informed

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) with active licensure (RN) — specialty in orthopedic/surgical care preferred
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (surgical/unit or orthopedic experience emphasized)
• Demonstrated experience managing an assigned patient load independently (typically 5 patients)
• Familiarity with Meditech or similar EMR systems for documentation
• Comfort with common orthopedic procedures and post-op care including dressing changes and aspiration
• Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills to fit the unit culture

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthopedic nursing and post-operative patient management
• Surgical unit workflow and common post-op procedures
• Pain management principles and safe medication administration
• Proficiency with Meditech for charting and clinical documentation
• Ability to work effectively on a night-shift team and support charge nurse responsibilities
• Strong communication, assessment, and prioritization skills
