Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered occupational therapy interventions under the supervising therapist
• Implement treatment plans to improve patients' daily living skills and independence
• Collaborate with nurses, rehab staff, and families to coordinate high-quality care
• Document patient progress and modify interventions as directed by the supervising therapist
• Assist with therapeutic activities, adaptive equipment training, and mobility programs
• Support discharge planning by preparing patients and caregivers for next steps

Qualifications

• Active COTA certification required
• Eligible for or currently holding any South Dakota licensure or registration required to practice
• Experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care settings preferred
• Strong clinical reasoning, patient handling skills, and comfort with documentation
• Current basic life support (BLS) or CPR certification if required by facility

Education

• Associate degree or OTA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of therapeutic techniques for ADLs, transfers, and adaptive equipment
• Comfortable with documentation in electronic medical records and rehab workflows
• Strong communication and teamwork skills for working with interdisciplinary teams
• Skilled in patient safety, infection control, and mobility assist strategies
• Ability to teach and support patients and families with practical home strategies
