Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and treat patients with communication, cognition, and swallowing disorders with evidence-based interventions
• Develop individualized treatment plans and measurable goals that drive patient progress
• Document patient evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately and timely
• Collaborate with nursing, therapy colleagues, and families to support holistic care
• Educate patients and caregivers on strategies to maximize functional communication and safe swallowing
• Participate in interdisciplinary care meetings and contribute clinical expertise to the team

Qualifications

• Current Texas license as a Speech-Language Pathologist or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred but not required
• Experience working in skilled nursing, long-term care, or rehab settings is a strong plus
• Valid CPR certification (as required by facility policies)
• Active professional liability insurance (or ability to obtain for contract work)
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with clinical outcome measures

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in dysphagia assessment and treatment techniques
• Strong knowledge of therapeutic approaches for speech, language, cognitive-communication
• Excellent interpersonal and patient education skills
• Proficient in clinical documentation and working within interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to manage a caseload effectively while maintaining quality outcomes
