Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care—triage, assess, and stabilize patients quickly and confidently
• Perform timely and accurate documentation in Cerner to support continuity of care
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and manage critical interventions using GE monitors and Baxter pumps
• Coach and mentor teammates in real time, fostering a collaborative and learning-focused environment
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families; keep boards and patients updated throughout the visit
• Work collaboratively with techs, unit clerks, and multidisciplinary teams to maintain safe patient ratios and flow

Qualifications

• Active RN license for North Carolina (required)
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an ER setting (must have)
• Required certifications prior to start: ACLS and BLS; PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS prior to start; ENPC within 90 days of hire
• Experience in a level 2 trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or a high-volume ED is strongly preferred
• Comfort coaching peers, giving feedback, and working across all ED sections
• Ability to work rotating nights and every-other-weekend coverage

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• ADN/Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and rapid patient assessment in a fast-paced emergency department
• Proficient documentation in Cerner
• Cardiac monitoring and interpretation (GE monitors) and infusion device familiarity (Baxter pumps)
• Strong teamwork, communication, and bedside coaching skills
• Familiarity with AIDET and patient experience best practices
• Stroke and trauma center workflows (NIHSS familiarity helpful)
