Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate patients from pediatric to geriatric populations to create individualized physical therapy plans
• Develop and implement treatment plans that improve functional ability and support discharge goals
• Deliver manual therapy and instruct patients in therapeutic and nonmanual exercises
• Administer therapeutic modalities such as hydrotherapy, traction, moist packs, ultraviolet/infrared therapy, and ultrasound
• Supervise and direct treatments administered by aides, technicians, and assistants
• Document patient care thoroughly in department and patient records, tracking progress and outcomes
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and the interdisciplinary team for discharge planning and continuity of care
• Design home exercise programs and educate patients, families, and caregivers to ensure lasting results
• Perform equipment preventive maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate repairs
• Lead staff development initiatives and in-service training to strengthen the therapy team

Qualifications

• Physical Therapy License issued by the State of Colorado (required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
• Comfortable treating patients across the lifespan: pediatric to geriatric
• Familiarity with therapeutic modalities, manual therapy, and assistive device training
• Strong documentation/charting skills and experience with discharge planning
• Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary care team

Education

• Physical Therapy License (Colorado) required
• BLS certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient evaluation and development of treatment plans
• Manual exercises and therapeutic modalities (hydrotherapy, ultrasound, traction, etc.)
• Assistive devices and ambulatory functional training
• Documentation, charting, and discharge planning best practices
• Infection control procedures and safe work practices
• Patient and family education, including home exercise program design
• Equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety checks
• Staff development, in-service training, and interdisciplinary collaboration
