Pediatric Physical Therapist
Location: Anchorage, AK
Start Date: 04-27-2026
End Date: 07-27-2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Day (5x8), plus approximately 1-2 weekend shifts per month
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate pediatric patients to design individualized, evidence-based plans of care
- Deliver hands-on and therapeutic interventions including gait training, mobility, and adaptive equipment fitting
- Coordinate safe inpatient-to-outpatient transitions and provide thorough discharge planning
- Document accurate assessments, goals, progress notes and plans in Epic to ensure continuity of care
- Educate patients and families on home programs, safety, and injury prevention to empower everyday function
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (nursing, physicians, OT, SLP, case management) to optimize outcomes
- Use clinical reasoning to adapt treatments across a range of pediatric diagnoses (CP, developmental delays, orthopedic and neurologic conditions)
- Participate in unit initiatives and maintain safe use of equipment such as gait belts, walkers, specialty beds and lifts
Qualifications
- AK Physical Therapist license required (Alaska Compact PT licensure eligible noted)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience required; preference for 2 years of pediatric/acute care experience
- First-time travel clinicians accepted with 2 years of experience
- Pending AK license accepted (must obtain per facility requirements)
- Comfortable floating between inpatient and outpatient pediatric settings and covering PICU as needed
- Experience with pediatric assessments, plan of care development, and family-centered education
Knowledge & Skills
- Pediatric assessment and evaluation (AROM/AAROM/PROM, strength testing, milestone assessment)
- Gait training, mobility interventions, and use of assistive devices (crutches, walkers, sliding boards, wheelchair assessment)
- Experience with neurologic and orthopedic pediatric populations (cerebral palsy, spina bifida, scoliosis, TBI, SCI)
- Modalities familiarity (moist heat, TENS, ultrasound) and adaptive equipment prescription
- Strong documentation skills, care planning, reassessments and discharge planning in Epic
- Patient and family education, safety and injury prevention strategies
- Time management and caseload prioritization across inpatient and outpatient settings
- Comfort with PICU and acute care workflows and interdisciplinary collaboration
