Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (NOC). Schedule includes weekends (approximately 3-4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks) and holiday rotation; self-scheduling with unit-specific rotation.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care for Neuro Acute / Epilepsy Monitoring patients on a telemetry unit, monitoring for subtle changes in neurological status
• Perform focused neuro assessments including cranial nerve checks and document findings clearly
• Manage telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition; ensure timely escalation of cardiac events
• Perform sterile procedures and maintain sterile field for Foley catheter insertions and central line dressing changes during SIMs Lab and on the floor
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including RT, pharmacy, hospitalists/intensivists, and IV SWAT for comprehensive patient care
• Float to MedSurg/Telemetry floors as needed while maintaining unit standards and patient safety
• Participate in charge/resource nursing responsibilities when assigned, supporting unit flow and staff coordination
• Support patient education, lift/transfer protocols, restraint alternatives, and wound care processes to promote recovery and safety

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for AZ submission (license to submit accepted)
• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience; Level 1 trauma experience is REQUIRED
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to assignment (two attempts allowed)
• Competency in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (SIMs Lab pass/fail on day 1 of orientation)
• Telemetry and MedSurg experience with strong critical thinking and assessment skills
• Comfort with Cerner charting system preferred/expected
• BSN preferred; Certified in Med Surg/Tele preferred
• Travel team requirements: own vehicle, natural hair color, no facial piercings, and men must be clean shaven for fit testing

• Trend EEG familiarity and caring for epilepsy monitoring patients
• MedSurg nursing fundamentals and critical thinking for rapid changes in condition
• Experience working with Cerner and interdisciplinary communication
• IV insertion: familiarity with SWAT/advanced IV skills is a strong plus
