Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity cardiac critical care for post-op cardiac surgery, transplant and advanced cardiac patients
• Monitor telemetry and dysrhythmias closely and respond with appropriate interventions
• Manage bedside advanced therapies such as IABP, CRRT and ECMO when indicated
• Perform and maintain sterile procedures, including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (SIMs Lab pass required)
• Demonstrate strong IV skills and assist with frequent bedside procedures (bronchoscopy, Swan-Ganz, epidurals)
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
• Float to other ICUs and telemetry units as needed and support Westgate campus when requested
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned and coordinate patient care and assignments

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to submit Arizona license; agency will accept waiting-to-submit per posting)
• BLS and ACLS required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU/CVICU experience (high-acuity cardiac recovery experience preferred)
• Level I Trauma experience required
• CCRN preferred
• Must pass dysrhythmia competency exam prior to acceptance (two attempts allowed)
• Must pass SIMs Lab skills for Foley insertion & central line dressing change (pass/fail)
• Strong IV skills required; comfortable with 1:1 to 1:2 ratios and frequent bedside procedures
• Able to float to other units and work required weekends/holidays
• Travel team requirements: own vehicle; abide by facility appearance/fit-test policies (natural hair color, no facial piercings; clean-shaven for fit test if applicable)

Education

• Registered Nurse (ADN or BSN) — active RN licensure required in Arizona
• BSN not required per posting

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac ICU / CVICU care and cardiac surgery recovery (CABG, TAVR, transplant)
• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/management
• ECMO, IABP and CRRT familiarity
• Swan-Ganz monitoring and management
• Sterile field maintenance and central line care
• Strong peripheral and central IV skills
• Experience with Cerner charting
• Comfort with high-acuity bedside procedures and critical care collaboration
