Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality PCU/Med-Telemetry nursing care for adult and geriatric patients
• Continuously monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac strips to guide care decisions
• Titrate and manage IV drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, low-dose Dopamine) per unit protocol
• Care for patients recovering from cardiac caths, EP studies, pacer management, and other cardiac conditions
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team including RTs and monitor techs to optimize patient outcomes
• Document thoroughly in EPIC and maintain accurate patient records
• Serve as a reliable unit resource when floating to PCU, MS, or assisting with ER holds/boarding
• Support charge nurse and assist with safe patient assignments when needed

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of practice
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (Med/Tele/PCU strongly preferred)
• Demonstrated PCU/telemetry experience and ability to read and interpret cardiac strips
• Comfortable titrating drips and managing common cardiac infusions
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Able to float across unit areas and meet RTO requirement upfront (7 or less days per 13-week contract)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or BSN — BSN preferred but not required
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and strip interpretation
• PCU/stepdown patient care and cardiac nursing principles
• IV drip titration and vasoactive medication management
• Pacer management and familiarity with EP studies
• Troubleshooting BiPAP, trach care and high-flow devices
• Sepsis recognition and acute-on-chronic condition management
• Proficiency with EPIC or similar electronic health record systems
• Strong communication, prioritization and teamwork skills
