Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage critically ill patients with confidence and compassion
• Monitor hemodynamics, ventilators, and advanced life support devices
• Administer medications and titrate infusions per provider orders
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the care team
• Document accurate, timely patient records in the electronic health record
• Provide family-centered education and emotional support during critical moments
• Lead safe handoffs and promote continuity of care at shift change

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in California (required)
• Minimum recent ICU or critical care experience preferred
• BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred or within orientation timeframe
• Current specialty certifications (CCRNs) encouraged but not required
• Strong critical thinking, prioritization, and effective communication skills
• Ability to work independently on per-diem/night assignments and integrate quickly with unit teams

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Skilled in interpreting ABGs, titrating vasoactive drips, and managing multi-system critical illness
• Familiarity with common ICU equipment and safety protocols
• Competent with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Team player who can lead in high-pressure situations and remain calm under stress
