Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, high-acuity cardiac and post-operative care in the CVICU/CTICU for up to a 24-bed unit
• Continuously monitor telemetry and promptly recognize and act on dysrhythmias and hemodynamic changes
• Perform bedside procedures and maintenance including central line dressing changes, Foley insertions, and IV access with strict sterile technique
• Manage complex devices and therapies such as IABP, CRRT, ECMO and collaborate on ventilator care with RT
• Serve in a charge role when assigned and collaborate closely with intensivists and the multidisciplinary team
• Participate in required SIMs Lab, orientation activities, lifts/restraints/wound care education and demonstrate competency on Day 1
• Float to other ICUs and all Tele units as needed, providing flexible, high-quality care across the organization
• Document accurately in Cerner and support continuity of care through timely communication and handoffs

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state or compact) required — facility accepts license submissions
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience (CVICU/CTICU or Cardiac ICU experience preferred)
• Required: Level I Trauma experience (must have)
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• CCRN strongly preferred
• Demonstrated competency with sterile technique, central line care, Foley catheter insertion, and strong IV skills
• Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam (two attempts provided) and pass SIMs Lab skills on orientation day
• Must have own vehicle for travel assignments
• Appearance and safety standards: natural hair color, no facial piercings, and men must be clean-shaven for fit testing

Education

• Active RN license in good standing
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in Cerner EMR charting and documentation
• Advanced telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition
• Central line care and sterile field maintenance
• IV insertion and strong peripheral access skills
• Familiarity with CRRT, IABP, ECMO, and Swan-Ganz monitoring
• Experience assisting with bronchoscopy and post-operative cardiac surgery care (CABG, TAVR, thoracic procedures)
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams including RT and pharmacy
