Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to Neuro Stepdown (SDU) patients
• Monitor and assess neurologic status, respond to changes promptly and accurately
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document all care clearly
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care plans
• Perform thorough patient education and discharge planning to set patients up for success
• Act decisively in urgent situations and support the team during critical events
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records and comply with facility policies

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Louisiana required
• Experience working in Neuro Stepdown, Stepdown Unit (SDU) or similar acute/telemetry settings preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred or obtainable
• Strong assessment skills, particularly neurologic monitoring and hemodynamic awareness
• Reliable, team-oriented, with excellent communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work 12.5-hour clinical shifts and meet physical demands of bedside nursing

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with stepdown/SDU protocols and neurologic patient care
• Proficiency with IV medications, telemetry monitoring, and common critical care equipment
• Skilled in clinical prioritization and time management in a fast-paced unit
• Comfortable collaborating across disciplines and escalating concerns appropriately
• Attention to detail for accurate medication administration and charting
