Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, schedule to be determined (12-hour Med/Surg shifts)

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $54 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the medical-surgical unit
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
Monitor patient status, perform assessments, and escalate changes promptly
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care
Document patient care thoroughly and maintain accurate charts in the EHR
Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and discharge plans
Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact nursing license
Experience or training in Medical-Surgical nursing (Med/Surg) — ready to hit the floor
Current BLS certification (and ACLS/other certifications as required by unit policies)
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills with attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced hospital environment

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Solid knowledge of Med/Surg nursing practices and standards of care
Skilled in medication administration, IV therapy, and wound care basics
Proficient with electronic health record (EHR) documentation
Good communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary teamwork
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage a dynamic patient assignment
