Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to Med/Surg patients
• Assess patient condition frequently and respond to changes promptly
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Maintain clear, timely documentation in the electronic health record
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact state eligibility
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced certifications encouraged
• Med/Surg nursing experience preferred; new grads with strong clinical skills are welcome to apply
• Strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Proof of required immunizations and background checks as per facility policy

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of medical-surgical nursing principles and common procedures
• Medication administration and IV therapy knowledge
• Proficiency with patient assessment, wound care and post-operative care
• Comfortable using electronic health record systems for documentation
• Strong time management, delegation and teamwork skills
• Patient and family education techniques with an emphasis on clear, empathetic communication
