Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to Med/Surg patients using evidence-based practices
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized patient care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes quickly, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and recovery plans
• Maintain adherence to infection control standards and hospital policies

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Louisiana or eligibility for state licensure (compact license holders encouraged to check requirements)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS/PALS as preferred or as required by unit
• Prior Med/Surg nursing experience preferred but enthusiastic new grads with strong clinical skills are welcome
• Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced environments and prioritize patient needs
• Strong communication, teamwork and critical thinking skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred when available

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and care standards
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Skill in medication administration, wound care and post-operative management
• Ability to perform patient assessments and interpret clinical data
• Comfort working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary hospital setting
