Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care to mothers and neonates
• Continuously monitor maternal and fetal status using external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC when indicated
• Perform sterile vaginal exams and circulate for C-sections as part of the operative team
• Administer and titrate medications including insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, anticoagulation, and antihypertensives safely and accurately
• Maintain central lines (CVC/PICC), start and manage IV therapy, and perform phlebotomy when needed
• Triage obstetrical patients, prioritize care, and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure smooth patient flow
• Document thoroughly in Epic to ensure continuity of care and accurate patient records
• Precept and mentor colleagues, sharing your clinical experience to elevate unit practice

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the United States; pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on labor and postpartum experience (facility prefers more than 2 years and strong precepting experience)
• Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP
• Preferred certification: AWHONN Advanced
• Travel/contract experience strongly preferred; seasoned travelers encouraged
• Comfort working with patient ratios of 1:3 and providing care in high-risk antepartum, LDRP, and delivery settings
• Proficiency with Epic charting system

Education

• Active RN license (pending not accepted)
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal monitoring and interpretation (external/internal)
• IUPC placement and calibration
• Labor and delivery management and high-risk antepartum care
• Circulate for C-section and sterile vaginal exam proficiency
• Medication administration including insulin drips and magnesium sulfate therapy
• Anticoagulation and antihypertensive management
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and maintenance of CVC/PICC lines
• Triage of obstetrical patients and neonatal care basics
• Isolation precautions and appropriate use of PPE
• Strong communication, teamwork, and precepting skills
