Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based labor and delivery care for patients and families
• Monitor maternal and fetal status, interpret findings, and intervene or escalate as needed
• Assist with labor support, deliveries, and immediate postpartum care
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient education accurately in the medical record
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Louisiana
• Experience or strong interest in Labor & Delivery nursing; previous L&D experience preferred
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support); ACLS and/or NRP preferred or willing to obtain
• Demonstrated ability to provide skilled maternal and neonatal care and patient education
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced unit and provide compassionate family-centered care

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal monitoring interpretation and intrapartum assessment
• Labor support techniques and delivery assistance
• Postpartum and newborn initial care knowledge
• Proficiency with clinical documentation and following unit protocols
• Strong triage and clinical prioritization skills
• Comfort working in a multidisciplinary team environment
