Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the emergency department
• Triage, assess, and stabilize patients with acute, urgent, and emergent needs
• Administer medications, perform treatments, and document care accurately and promptly
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver timely care
• Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes, and act decisively to escalate care when needed
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and follow-up care to support recovery
• Maintain compliance with facility policies, safety protocols, and regulatory standards

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact RN authorization if applicable)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred or willing to obtain
• Previous emergency department nursing experience preferred
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize patient needs effectively

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical assessment and triage in emergency settings
• Familiarity with ED workflows, documentation, and electronic medical records
• Medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Ability to perform under pressure and make timely clinical decisions
• Clear communication with patients, families, and care teams
• Basic familiarity with life-saving interventions and emergency protocols
