Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy safely and precisely following ONS standards
• Provide specialized care for BMT (bone marrow transplant) and hematology patients
• Monitor cardiac status and telemetry, respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Perform blood administration and manage transfusion-related care
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Meditech to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and execute patient-centered plans
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, side effect management and discharge instructions
• Maintain required certifications and follow unit policies to preserve a safe clinical environment

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license in Texas or Multi-State Compact License
• ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certification (required)
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• ONCC Oncology Certified Nurse is a plus
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in chemo/biotherapy, BMT or hematology
• Comfort with telemetry monitoring and a 4:1 patient ratio environment
• Compassionate, resilient, detail-oriented, and a strong team player with critical thinking skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Chemo and biotherapy administration protocols and safety practices
• Bone marrow transplant patient care and hematology-focused nursing
• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac assessment skills
• Experience with Meditech EMR for documentation and medication administration
• Strong clinical assessment, triage and critical thinking abilities
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
