Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic sonographic examinations of abdominal and OB/GYN patients for radiologist interpretation
• Provide compassionate, age-appropriate patient care from newborns through geriatrics
• Maintain accurate patient records, documentation, and paperwork accompanying procedures
• Assist with ultrasound-guided invasive procedures and care of imaging equipment, including transducers and Trophon station
• Participate in departmental quality assurance, accreditation efforts, and policy/procedure development
• Cross-train in other imaging modalities and rotate shifts as needed to support department operations
• Consult professionally with referring physicians to ensure optimal imaging and patient care

Qualifications

• Current ARDMS certification in at least one category (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, RDCS) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Able to perform all diagnostic exams related to assigned modality (general and vascular, or cardiac)
• Willingness to pursue additional RDMS/ARDMS credentials and participate in continuing education
• Comfortable working with patients across the lifespan and in varied clinical settings
• Ability to assume department responsibility in the absence of a supervisor and to work well under stress

Education

• Current ARDMS certification in one modality (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in sonographic examination of body parts (abdominal and OB/GYN focus)
• Strong patient transfer and bedside care skills
• Knowledge of medical record maintenance and imaging documentation
• Experience with departmental quality assurance and accreditation processes
• Skill in transducer care, Trophon station maintenance, and safe equipment handling
• Ability to assist in interventional ultrasound procedures and follow infection-control policies
