Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients and develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plans across inpatient, rehab, sub-acute and outpatient settings
• Provide hands-on therapy for a wide range of diagnoses including spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury, orthopedic and general medical/surgical cases
• Collaborate closely with PT, Speech and nursing teams to coordinate multidisciplinary care
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Cerner to keep patient records current and communication clear
• Participate in floor-specific orientation (three shifts) and complete required orientation hours
• Support continuity of care for sub-acute and vented patients when assigned to those units
• Contribute to outpatient clinic care (ortho, sports medicine, lymphedema) when assigned to those sites

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of occupational therapy experience (required)
• Active state license to practice as an Occupational Therapist (must be able to submit license)
• BLS certification (required)
• Experience using Cerner EMR (preferred/required for charting)
• Comfort working in both inpatient acute/rehab and freestanding outpatient clinic environments
• Preferred: OT experience with swallow management (rare specialty) and familiarity with lymphedema, ortho, neuro, pediatrics or ICU/sub-acute care

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in evaluation, treatment planning and progress documentation for diverse rehab populations
• Knowledge of inpatient rehabilitation, general medical/surgical and sub-acute care needs
• Experience with outpatient orthopedics, sports medicine and lymphedema programs
• Comfort treating complex diagnoses: spinal cord injuries, stroke, brain injuries, bariatrics and ICU patients
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with nursing and therapy colleagues
• Proficient with Cerner charting and hospital documentation practices
