Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM (Day) — no weekends
Hours per Week: 24
Candidate Pay Rate: $55 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide pastoral and spiritual care to hospice patients in homes, assisted living, adult foster homes and skilled nursing facilities
- Offer bereavement support to family members and caregivers, helping them navigate grief and loss
- Collaborate closely with hospice nurses, social workers, counselors and volunteers to deliver holistic care
- Document spiritual assessments, care plans and interventions in the patient record clearly and timely
- Travel to multiple points of care within the service area to meet patients where they are
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care planning to support symptom management and family needs
- Provide culturally sensitive, person-centered spiritual support tailored to diverse beliefs and backgrounds
- Serve as an advocacy and comfort presence for patients and families during end-of-life transitions
Qualifications
- Ordained, commissioned, licensed or endorsed by a recognized pastoral/spiritual community (required)
- Experience or training in pastoral/spiritual care (required)
- Valid driver’s license, reliable personal automobile and required auto liability/property damage insurance (required)
- Ability to travel to multiple points of care across the service area
- Comfort working in home settings, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living and adult foster homes
- Strong communication, documentation and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR
- Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field plus 2 years pastoral/spiritual or medical experience OR
- Associate’s degree in a related field plus 2 years experience as a chaplain
- Master’s degree in a related field preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical understanding of hospice care principles and end-of-life support
- Bereavement counseling techniques and family systems awareness
- Spiritual assessment and care planning with diverse populations
- Crisis intervention and supportive counseling skills
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary hospice team
- Professional boundaries, ethics and confidentiality in the care setting
