Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents in their daily routines
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding
• Support safe mobility and fall prevention measures while encouraging resident independence
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report observations to nursing staff
• Document care accurately and maintain clear communication with the care team
• Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies to protect residents
• Build positive relationships with residents and families to enhance their quality of life

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
• Active placement on the state nursing assistant registry as applicable
• CPR/BLS certification required or willingness to obtain
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
• Strong communication, patience, and a compassionate attitude
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by the facility

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on resident care and support with activities of daily living
• Basic vital signs monitoring and reporting changes in resident status
• Safe transfer and mobility assistance techniques
• Resident hygiene, grooming, and feeding assistance
• Accurate charting and documentation practices
• Infection control and standard precautions
• Effective communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
