Roles & Responsibilities

Provide clinical oversight for the Occupational Therapy department, ensuring high-quality patient care and regulatory compliance
Directly evaluate and treat patients (approximately 80% clinical time) to deliver hands-on, evidence-based occupational therapy services
Lead clinical education and competency assessment for OT staff, including supervision of COTAs and Rehabilitation Technicians
Develop, maintain, and enforce OT policies and procedures covering scope of care, evaluation/treatment standards, documentation, and discharge planning
Supervise and mentor staff, fostering professional development and strong team performance
Contribute to program development and administrative tasks (about 20% of role) to advance service delivery and department goals
Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to state practice acts and professional standards

Qualifications

Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (required)
Currently licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of California (required)
Compliance with any additional qualifications recommended by the CA Therapy Board and the Rehabilitation Services Department (required)
Member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) (preferred)
Experience supervising COTAs and rehabilitation technicians and leading clinical education/competency processes

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy (AOTA-approved)

Knowledge & Skills

Expertise in occupational therapy evaluation and treatment
Strong skills in documentation and discharge planning
Experience with policy and procedure development and regulatory compliance
Clinical education and competency assessment for rehabilitation staff
Ability to supervise and mentor multidisciplinary therapy teams
Familiarity with rehabilitation program development and administrative duties
