Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality oncology nursing care to patients on a 24-bed oncology/women’s surgical unit
• Assess, plan and implement patient-centered care using evidence-based practices and Cerner documentation
• Administer treatments and medications safely, including chemotherapy protocols when certified
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and improve patient outcomes
• Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, including assisting with procedures like thoracentesis and echocardiography monitoring
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments and post-discharge care with empathy and clarity
• Contribute to a positive unit culture by actively participating in teamwork, shift huddles and quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (Med-Surg and/or Oncology experience preferred)
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Chemo certification preferred — candidates with chemo experience will be prioritized
• Experience with Cerner EMR strongly preferred
• Comfortable assisting with or performing occasional pelvic exams, echo monitoring support, and thoracentesis assistance
• Ability to work rotating nights and the required weekend coverage with a team-first attitude

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong oncology clinical skills and familiarity with cancer care protocols
• Solid med-surg nursing background and patient assessment skills
• Proficient documentation skills in Cerner EMR
• Excellent communication and patient/family education abilities
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm during high-acuity situations
• Team-oriented mindset with willingness to learn and float rarely to other med-surg units
