Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality medical-surgical nursing care to patients on a telemetry unit
• Monitor and interpret telemetry data to identify changes in patient status and escalate appropriately
• Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapies safely and according to policy
• Document patient care thoroughly in the Meditech electronic medical record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate timely, patient-centered care
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, and discharge planning to support recovery
• Promote patient safety by using appropriate equipment and safe patient handling techniques
• Contribute to a positive unit culture by being a reliable, team-oriented professional

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RN license for the state of Texas
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in medical-surgical and/or telemetry nursing
• Experience with Meditech EMR (required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• CPI certification preferred
• Experience or comfort with telemetry monitoring and a 1:6 patient ratio environment
• Ability to work weekends and integrate into an established unit team

Education

• Active RN license required
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition skills
• Proficiency with Meditech electronic medical record workflows
• Solid patient assessment and critical thinking abilities
• Competence with IV skills; ultrasound IV placement experience is a plus
• Familiarity with NIHSS assessment is a helpful advantage
• Ability to safely operate common equipment such as Hoyer lifts and walkers
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
