Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing as a circulating RN, ensuring patient safety and smooth OR flow
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and the OR team to coordinate cases across specialties
• Deliver one-to-one patient care when required, maintaining high standards for sterile technique and infection control
• Document accurately and efficiently in Epic to support continuity of care
• Float between units and facilities as needed to meet patient and unit needs, adapting to different case mixes
• Respond to on-call requests reliably (one night/week and one weekend/month) and support emergent or urgent surgical cases
• Mentor and support colleagues by sharing perioperative best practices and contributing to a positive team culture

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Oregon (or ability to obtain) — required
• Minimum 2 years of perioperative/OR nursing experience
• Certifications preferred: ACLS, BLS; CNOR is a plus
• Comfortable circulating across a broad case mix including ophthalmology, general surgery, ortho, plastics, urology and podiatry
• Ability to float between units and travel to nearby facilities as needed
• Reliable vehicle required for assignment travel between regional sites
• Willingness to participate in a structured orientation (40 hours) and on-call rotation

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing and circulating expertise
• Familiarity with Epic charting and electronic documentation
• Experience with ophthalmology cases (cataract extraction/implant, eye trauma, glaucoma surgery) highly valued
• Comfort with general surgery, ENT, GYN, ortho, plastics and urology procedures
• Strong aseptic technique, instrumentation knowledge, and patient safety focus
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills across interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to triage, prioritize, and maintain 1:1 patient care when required
