Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care across ICU, PCU and MST acuities
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and perform 12-lead EKGs, intervening promptly on abnormalities
• Titrate drips (sedation, vasopressors, insulin) safely and per protocol
• Manage ventilated patients in collaboration with Respiratory Therapy
• Deliver thorough assessments, create care plans, and document accurately in Cerner
• Collaborate with remote monitor techs and the multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes
• Float to ED, West Campus ICU/PCU or pediatric units as needed to maintain competency
• Participate in unit orientation, competency validation and occasional standby rotations

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (state licensure required)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (or 1 year ICU + 1 year PCU/Med-Surg from larger facilities)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required before start)
• Comfort and experience titrating drips and managing ventilated patients
• Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam (must achieve required score within two attempts)
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring, 12-lead EKG interpretation and bedside cardiac monitors
• Experience with Cerner or similar electronic charting systems
• Willingness to comply with facility radius and CommonSpirit employment rules

Education

• Active RN license (ADN or BSN acceptable). BSN not required.

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition
• 12-lead EKG acquisition and basic interpretation
• Infusion pump/drip titration for vasopressors, sedation and insulin
• Ventilator/respiratory support basics and collaboration with RT
• Acute care assessment, critical thinking and prioritization
• Strong communication and teamwork, including working with remote monitor techs
• Ability to float across MCU, ED, pediatric and West Campus units as needed
• Familiarity with bedside cardiac monitors and Cerner charting
