Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care to surgical patients
- Prepare the operating room and surgical instruments to ensure sterile technique
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to optimize patient outcomes
- Monitor patient status before, during, and after procedures and communicate changes promptly
- Document care accurately and timely in the patient record
- Participate in surgical counts and adhere to facility infection control protocols
- Mentor and support colleagues while contributing to a positive, team-focused environment
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be eligible to work in the assignment state)
- Minimum 2 years of recent operating room (OR) nursing experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS or specialty certifications a plus
- Strong ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Clean background and ability to meet facility credentialing requirements
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Thorough knowledge of perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
- Proficiency with surgical instrumentation and OR workflow
- Excellent patient assessment and monitoring skills
- Clear communication and teamwork skills with multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm under pressure
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate documentation practices
