Location: Bowie, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem (days vary), 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM Day shift

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs)
Monitor and accurately record vital signs and report changes promptly to nursing staff
Assist with safe transfers, mobility support, and fall prevention measures
Help with meal service and ensure residents' dietary needs and preferences are respected
Maintain clear, timely documentation and communicate effectively during handoffs
Follow infection control, safety, and privacy procedures to protect residents and the care team

Qualifications

Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification in Maryland or equivalent
CPR/BLS certification required or must be obtain-able upon hire
Ability to pass facility-required background check and drug screening
Comfortable working with older adults and committed to resident dignity
Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit; experience in long-term care is a plus

Education

High school diploma or GED and completion of an accredited GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of ADLs, basic nursing care, and resident-centered approaches
Ability to take and document accurate vital signs
Familiarity with infection control practices and proper PPE use
Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and clinical teams
Basic charting skills, whether electronic or paper-based
