Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Support residents with mobility and safe transfers while promoting independence
• Monitor and record basic observations such as temperature, pulse, respiration and report changes to the nursing team
• Assist with meal service and ensure residents receive proper nutrition and hydration
• Maintain a clean, safe environment by following infection control and safety procedures
• Document care accurately and communicate effectively with nurses, families, and other care team members
• Promote resident dignity, privacy, and emotional well-being through respectful interactions

Qualifications

• GNA certification or completion of a Geriatric Nursing Assistant program (required)
• Current state GNA/CNA registration as applicable and ability to work in Maryland
• Comfort working with older adults and experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
• Basic ability to safely perform transfers and assist with mobility
• Willingness to complete facility-required health screenings and background checks
• Strong communication skills and a teamwork mindset

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Completion of a recognized Geriatric Nursing Assistant program required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and elder dignity
• Skilled at assisting with ADLs and personal care
• Good observational skills to notice and report changes in condition
• Solid interpersonal skills for working with residents and families
• Knowledge of infection control and safety best practices
• Ability to follow care plans and document tasks clearly
