Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
- Support safe mobility and transfers while encouraging independence
- Take and record basic vital signs and report changes in condition promptly
- Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to residents
- Maintain accurate documentation of care and communicate clearly with nursing staff
- Help keep resident rooms and common areas tidy and comfortable
- Follow infection control procedures and facility policies to protect residents
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Comfortable working in long-term care or skilled nursing environments
- Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care needs and ADLs
- Skill in safe resident handling and transfer techniques
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Good documentation practices and clear communication with clinical team
- Awareness of infection control and safety procedures
- Teamwork mindset and respect for resident dignity
