Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care for geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Perform routine vital signs, basic assessments, and report changes to nursing staff
- Assist with mobility, transfers, and safe ambulation to promote independence
- Support mealtime and feeding assistance while encouraging dignity and choice
- Maintain accurate documentation of care and resident observations
- Follow infection control practices and facility protocols to keep residents safe
- Build positive relationships with residents and families through clear, kind communication
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required) — you know your scope and you own it
- Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-centered attitude
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently on per diem assignments
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Completion of an approved GNA program or state-equivalent certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming)
- Basic vitals measurement and observation skills
- Safe transfer and positioning techniques
- Familiarity with infection prevention and basic safety protocols
- Clear verbal communication and teamwork mindset
- Basic charting and following care plans
