Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and compassion
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff promptly
• Provide timely and accurate documentation of care and interventions
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
• Build positive, trusting relationships with residents and their families to enhance daily quality of life

Qualifications

• Certified GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — current and in good standing (state certification or eligible to obtain)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or able to obtain
• Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
• Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine desire to work with older adults
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus but not always required

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of an approved GNA training program required

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable with personal care and assisting with ADLs for older adults
• Basic knowledge of infection control and resident safety practices
• Good observational skills to notice and report changes in condition
• Ability to follow care plans and document accurately
• Team player attitude and clear communication with nurses and clinical staff
