Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire the rehabilitation team, including physical therapists and occupational therapists, creating a collaborative and high-performing culture
- Oversee clinical operations to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care across PT and OT services
- Develop and implement department policies, procedures, and care pathways that improve outcomes
- Coach, mentor, and evaluate staff performance while supporting professional growth and competency
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and payer requirements for rehabilitation services
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and facility leadership to coordinate patient care and transition planning
- Monitor clinical outcomes and operational metrics, driving continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage staffing workflows and case assignments to maintain consistent, safe patient coverage
Qualifications
- Active California license as a Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist, or ability to obtain licensure promptly
- Proven leadership experience in acute or post-acute rehabilitation settings; prior DOR or supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Strong clinical background in PT and/or OT with demonstrated ability to oversee program quality
- Familiarity with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and documentation best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build consensus across teams
- Basic life support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain as required by the facility
Education
- Degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or related healthcare field (e.g., DPT, MPT, MOT); advanced degree or management training is a plus
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep knowledge of rehabilitation clinical practices and therapy modalities
- Experience with clinical documentation and electronic medical records
- Skills in staff development, conflict resolution, and performance coaching
- Ability to analyze quality and operational metrics and turn data into action
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Comfort working collaboratively with nursing, case management, and leadership teams
