Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality progressive care nursing to step-down and ICU-level patients
• Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support safely and effectively
• Perform and assist with procedures such as thoracentesis and arterial line management
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in a fast-paced acute setting
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner EMR and communicate changes to the team
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure smooth transitions of care

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure (North Carolina license or RN compact where applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of recent progressive care, step-down, or ICU nursing experience
• At least one prior travel nurse assignment preferred or prior travel experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, NIHSS, BLS
• Comfort with ventilator management, central and arterial line care, and dressing changes
• Strong teamwork skills and an outgoing, patient-focused attitude

Education

• Active RN license required; nursing diploma, ADN or BSN typical for role

Knowledge & Skills

• Progressive Care (PCU) and ICU clinical knowledge
• Mechanical ventilation and ventilator alarms/troubleshooting
• Central line and arterial line care and monitoring
• Cerner EMR documentation and charting proficiency
• Ability to perform thoracentesis support and related bedside procedures
• Patient assessment, critical thinking, and effective communication
• Familiarity with med-surg and step-down patient ratios and workflows
• Comfort working nights and covering every-other-weekend shifts
