Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Day shift) with call rotation: every 3rd day and every 3rd weekend. Weekday call: 3:00 PM - 7:00 AM; Weekend call: Friday 3:00 PM - Monday 7:00 AM. Call-back expectation ~30 minutes (may vary 2-4+ hours depending on case).
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $57 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care in the operating room and PACU, following Universal Protocol (time-out) procedures
- Prepare, operate, and troubleshoot specialty OR equipment (electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, Stryker orthopedic and Olympus lap equipment, Fuji endoscopy)
- Monitor patients intraoperatively and in recovery — cardiac monitoring, conscious sedation observation, and timely documentation in Meditech
- Administer blood products and follow specimen handling/labeling and infection control protocols
- Establish and maintain vascular access including starting peripheral IVs and urinary bladder catheterization as needed
- Assist in a wide range of surgical procedures (general, gynecologic, ophthalmic, orthopedic, urology, endoscopy) as scrub or circulating nurse
- Collaborate with anesthesia, surgeons, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and transfers to PACU
- Respond to call events promptly and provide timely return-to-hospital care when needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of perioperative/OR experience (explicit requirement)
- Current ACLS, BLS, PALS certifications (listed in job requirements)
- Experience charting in Meditech (charting system required)
- Comfort and competence with PACU/recovery care and universal protocol (time-out) procedures
- Ability to participate in call rotation (every 3rd day / every 3rd weekend) and meet call-back expectations
- Comfort working with diverse patient age groups (pediatrics through geriatrics) and varied case mix
Knowledge & Skills
- Meditech charting and Omnicell medication system
- General OR and Ambulatory OR workflows
- PACU (recovery) management and conscious sedation monitoring
- Cardiac monitoring and administration of blood & blood products
- Starting peripheral IVs and urinary bladder catheterization
- Infection control, specimen handling/labeling, and radiation safety
- Operation of electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, Steris processing
- Familiarity with Stryker orthopedic equipment, Olympus lap gear, and Fuji endoscopy systems
- Clinical skills across specialties: endoscopy (colonoscopy, EGD), general surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, urology
- Emergency management awareness (fire safety, malignant hyperthermia, latex allergy considerations) and wound management
