Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough head-to-toe assessments and timely reassessments to detect changes in condition
• Assess and manage pain using appropriate evaluation methods and teach patients/families about pain control
• Administer medications safely following the five medication rights and age-appropriate dosing
• Develop, revise and evaluate individualized plans of care daily to ensure effective treatment
• Provide compassionate, age-appropriate care across the lifespan and involve families in teaching and care planning
• Document patient care accurately and in compliance with current standards and policies
• Coordinate and supervise patient care, consulting other departments to deliver an interdisciplinary approach
• Operate and manage equipment safely and maintain required clinical competencies
• Communicate clearly and professionally with unit leadership, physicians, and the healthcare team
• Serve as a patient/family advocate, addressing psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs

Qualifications

• Active Ohio nursing license or Compact nursing license required at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Postpartum and nursery experience required
• ACLS (AHA) required and must be active at time of start
• BLS (AHA) required and must be active at time of start
• NRP required and must be active at time of start
• Certifications must be AHA-issued and current at start date
• Full profile submission required (resume, skills checklist within 1 year, certifications)
• BSN degree preferred
• If COVID vaccinated, provide vaccination card (if applicable)

• Head-to-toe assessment and ongoing reassessment
• Pain assessment and multimodal pain management techniques
• Medication administration best practices and age-appropriate dosing
• Plan of care development, daily evaluation and documentation
• Patient and family education and teaching plan development
• Interdisciplinary communication and care coordination
• Meditech electronic medical record experience
• Bedside blood glucose testing and maintenance of related competencies
• Ability to function effectively in stressful situations while remaining organized and flexible
