Physical Therapist - School
Location: Deming, NM
Contract Type: Contract
Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM Day shift (aligned with the school calendar; consistent weekday schedule, no weekends or holidays)
Hours per Week: 37.5
Candidate Pay Rate: $75 - $52.5 per hour
Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations for students to identify needs and measure progress
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with IEP goals
- Provide direct therapy services focusing on mobility, balance, strength, coordination, and functional access
- Recommend adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and environmental modifications to support student participation
- Participate in IEP meetings and interdisciplinary team discussions to advocate for student needs
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines
- Educate school staff and caregivers on safe mobility, positioning, and transfer techniques to promote continuity of care
Qualifications
- Active New Mexico Physical Therapist license
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited program
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Pediatric or school-based experience preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage and prioritize a student caseload independently
Education
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in pediatric physical therapy assessments and interventions
- Experience collaborating with teachers, special education staff, and families
- Familiarity with IEP processes and documentation requirements
- Proficient in recommending and fitting assistive devices and environmental modifications
- Strong clinical documentation and caseload management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication with interdisciplinary teams
