Registered Nurse - Med Surg Oncology

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (3x12). Day: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (3 shifts/week). Night: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (3 shifts/week). Assignments rotate and are reviewed every 4 weeks; schedule may include days, nights, or a combination and will include weekends as needed. Float to equivalent or lower acuity MedSurg Oncology units as required.
Hours per Week: 60
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate care to adults and geriatrics admitted for oncology-related diagnoses
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias promptly
- Administer and monitor effects of chemotherapy and supportive treatments per policy
- Perform and manage vascular access: IV starts, PICC and central line care, and arterial line management
- Prepare and administer blood products and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Support respiratory needs with HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, and tracheostomy care as appropriate
- Assist with specialty procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal when called upon
- Follow strict infection prevention and patient falls protocols to keep patients safe
- Document thoroughly in EPIC and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members for coordinated care
Qualifications
- Valid RN license in good standing (state licensure required)
- Minimum 2 years RN experience (must meet requirements within the last 3 years; at least 1 year current specialty experience for clinical pass)
- BLS certification required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Previous travel experience preferred but not required
- Oncology experience preferred but not required; MedSurg/Telemetry experience helpful
- Comfort with floating to equivalent acuity units and working variable weekend schedules
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccination not required per facility guideline
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Cardiac monitoring systems (B450 GE telemetry) and emergency response
- IV therapy, phlebotomy, and IV start proficiency
- Central line/PICC line care and arterial line management
- Blood product administration and ABG interpretation
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy care)
- Familiarity with Alaris pumps, bladder scanner and Stryker beds
- Strong infection prevention practices and patient fall prevention strategies
- Accurate and timely documentation in EPIC and effective interdisciplinary communication
