Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop individualized treatment plans to improve swallowing, cognitive, and communication abilities
• Lead and direct delivery of speech-language pathology and audiology services in accordance with regulations
• Implement aspiration management and dysphagia interventions to enhance resident safety
• Collaborate with nursing, rehab, and medical teams to coordinate resident care and discharge planning
• Assess communication needs and teach strategies to improve understanding and expression
• Document evaluations, progress, and plans accurately and timely according to facility policy
• Educate residents, families, and staff on therapy strategies and long-term care best practices

Qualifications

• Valid, unrestricted Missouri state license in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) preferred and noted as required in posting
• Minimum 1 year of SLP clinical experience (required)
• Long-term care or rehabilitation experience (required)
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to meet educational requirements for state licensure

Education

• Meet educational requirements as specified by state licensure for Speech-Language Pathology

Knowledge & Skills

• Treatment planning for swallowing, cognition, and communication
• Swallowing therapy (dysphagia) and aspiration management
• Cognitive therapy techniques for varied diagnoses
• Delivery of speech-language pathology and audiology services in skilled nursing
• Knowledge of skilled nursing home and long-term care regulations, laws, and procedures
• Strong clinical documentation and interdisciplinary communication skills
• Experience working with short-term rehab patients and long-term residents
