Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Day); occasional on-call evenings/nights 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM; every-other-weekend coverage 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; float to Pre-Op and Phase I/II as required (rotating responsibilities)

Candidate Pay Rate: $65 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert pre-op and post-op care in Phase I and Phase II recovery units, ensuring safe handoffs and timely discharges
- Monitor cardiac status and dysrhythmias using bedside monitoring and 12-lead ECG interpretation
- Administer medications, blood products and titrate IV therapies safely and per protocol
- Perform airway assessments and assist with intubation, ventilator care, chest tube management and ETCO2 monitoring
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and collaborate with the team to optimize respiratory and hemodynamic status
- Manage PCA pumps, procedural sedation monitoring, and appropriate use of reversal agents
- Provide thorough pre-op assessments, patient education, medication reconciliation and discharge instructions
- Document care accurately in Epic and communicate lab values, changes in condition and care plans to the interdisciplinary team
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of California (must be eligible to practice)
- Minimum 1 year of PACU or perioperative nursing experience required; ICU or ED experience preferred
- Current BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred
- Demonstrated competency with cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, phlebotomy and blood product administration
- Experience with Epic or other electronic charting systems is required
- Comfort with float assignments to Pre-Op, Phase I and Phase II and ability to cover occasional on-call/night shifts

- Phase I PACU and Phase II recovery care
- Pre/post-op assessment and discharge planning
- Epic charting and clinical documentation
- IV therapy, PICC line care and phlebotomy
- Cardiac monitoring, 12-lead ECG interpretation and dysrhythmia management
- Airway assessment, ventilator care and ETCO2 monitoring
- Chest tube management and interpretation of ABGs
- Medication administration including procedural sedation and vasopressors
- Pain assessment and PCA pump management
- RASS scoring and agitation/sedation assessment
