Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled labor, delivery and postpartum care for antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients
• Perform continuous fetal monitoring and interpret tracings to support safe deliveries
• Place and calibrate IUPC and perform sterile vaginal exams as clinically indicated
• Circulate for C-sections and assist the obstetrical team during operative deliveries
• Initiate and manage IV therapy, phlebotomy and maintenance of central lines (CVC/PICC)
• Administer medications including anticoagulation, antihypertensives, insulin drips and magnesium sulfate per protocol
• Triage obstetrical patients and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Document thoroughly in Epic and support safe transitions of care for neonates and adults

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery and postpartum nursing experience (Hard-stop: L&D and postpartum required)
• Travel nurse experience required — seasoned travelers preferred (first-timers not accepted)
• Current ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS and NRP certifications required
• AWHONN Advanced preferred and strong precepting skills are a plus
• Experience working 1:3 patient ratios in L&D settings
• Pending licenses are NOT accepted — must hold an active RN license for submission
• Familiarity with Epic charting required

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal monitoring interpretation and high-risk antepartum care
• IUPC placement and calibration
• IV therapy, phlebotomy and central line (CVC/PICC) maintenance
• Medication management including drips (insulin, magnesium sulfate) and emergency meds
• Circulating for C-section and sterile technique for vaginal exams
• Triage of obstetrical patients and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Epic electronic charting proficiency and strong documentation practices
• Isolation precautions, PPE use and unit safety protocols
