Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality telemetry nursing care to adults and geriatrics on oncology and med-surg telemetry units
• Monitor cardiac telemetry continuously and interpret dysrhythmias to guide timely interventions
• Provide IV therapy, start and maintain peripheral IVs, manage PICC and central lines, and administer blood products safely
• Follow and reinforce infection prevention and isolation precautions to protect vulnerable oncology patients
• Respond as an active team member on Rapid Response and Code teams during emergencies
• Float across specialized units including BMT, acute leukemia, hematology, surgical oncology and PCU to meet patient needs
• Document patient care thoroughly and accurately in Epic charting
• Educate patients and families on treatments, post-op care, and discharge instructions to support recovery

Qualifications

• Active RN license (ability to work in Ohio required)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of high-acuity MedSurg Telemetry (or higher) experience within the past 3 years, with at least 1 year of current specialty experience
• Travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Comfort managing patient ratios up to 1:4 to 1:5 on MedSurg Telemetry and 1:3 in PCU, depending on acuity
• Preferred: OCN or ONS/ONCC certification and oncology experience

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/PICC line care
• Familiarity with Epic electronic charting
• Infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with Alaris pumps, GE telemetry monitor system, PCA and epidural pumps
• Respiratory support skills: HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy care, chest tube management
• Comfort with oncology-related care: chemotherapy monitoring/administration (preferred), BMT and acute leukemia familiarity
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams and emergency response procedures
