Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and stabilize emergency patients quickly using strong clinical judgment and triage skills
- Provide high-quality ED nursing care including telemetry interpretation and point-of-care testing
- Respond to STEMI and stroke activations and support appropriate send-outs and transfers
- Chart accurately and promptly in EPIC to maintain clear, safe patient records
- Collaborate with physicians, RT, techs and support staff to streamline patient flow across sites
- Float across Zone 4 facilities as assigned, adapting care to each hospital’s workflows
- Perform hands-on nursing tasks (IVs, phlebotomy when trained, monitor management) and troubleshoot respiratory devices as needed
- Serve as an engaged team member during high-acuity events — your assessment and interventions save time and lives
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for submission in Kansas (DL must be submitted)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (ED/acute care experience preferred)
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS or ENPC, NIHSS, TNCC
- Comfortable with telemetry interpretation and point-of-care testing
- Ability and willingness to float across a 60-mile zone (Zone 4: Garden City, Dodge City, Ulysses)
- Experience with EPIC or similar electronic health records is a plus
- Ability to work nights and rotating schedules, including every-other-weekend and holiday rotation
- Reliable transportation and flexibility to obtain housing that supports floating across the zone
Education
- Active RN licensure required
- BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong emergency nursing assessment and prioritization skills
- Telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring expertise
- Familiarity with common ED diagnoses (NSTEMI, stroke, trauma, respiratory distress, sepsis)
- Skill with point-of-care testing and basic phlebotomy when required
- Comfort troubleshooting vents/CPAP/BiPAP and coordinating respiratory care with RT
- Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and clear EPIC charting
- Ability to adapt quickly to different ER setups and patient volumes
