Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered occupational therapy assistance under OT supervision to help clients regain independence
• Implement individualized treatment activities and therapeutic exercises that support daily living skills
• Document patient progress clearly and timely in the medical record to support continuity of care
• Educate patients and families on techniques, adaptive equipment, and home strategies that improve outcomes
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to contribute to care planning and positive patient outcomes
• Maintain therapy equipment and ensure a safe, clean treatment environment
• Participate in discharge planning and transition-of-care activities to support lasting success
• Advocate for patient needs and help tailor interventions to meet functional goals

Qualifications

• Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
• Active state licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure in West Virginia
• Completion of an accredited OTA program or equivalent education
• BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfortable working a roughly 30-hour schedule with weekend rotation
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team
• Previous experience in rehab, skilled nursing, or similar settings preferred; new grads are welcome to apply

Education

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or completion of an accredited OTA program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of therapeutic techniques for ADLs, mobility, and functional recovery
• Familiarity with adaptive equipment, assistive devices, and activity modifications
• Ability to follow treatment plans and adapt interventions under OT supervision
• Comfortable with documentation best practices and electronic medical records
• Strong clinical reasoning, time management, and prioritization skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills to educate patients and collaborate with families and staff
• Commitment to safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance
