Shift Type: PRN day shifts — option for half-day (≈4 hours) or full-day (≈8 hours). Days per week vary by location: Coeburn, VA — 2 days/week; Covington, VA — 1 day/week; Hillsville, VA — 2 days/week; Emporia, VA — half-day (0.5 day) per week. Day shifts (start/end times are flexible and set locally during regular business hours).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments to support veterans
• Conduct thorough interview-based clinical exams and appropriate physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength)
• Document findings clearly and complete medical exam reports, addendums and medical opinions in a timely manner
• Review diagnostics as needed and incorporate results into evaluations and reports
• Coordinate with VES credentialing and onboarding teams to maintain compliance and readiness
• Communicate respectfully and clearly with Veterans to ensure a professional, compassionate exam experience

Qualifications

• Clinician background in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or general medicine (candidates with C&P experience preferred)
• Experience performing interview-based exams and basic physical assessments (ROM and muscle strength testing)
• Ability to complete medical exam reports, addendums and provide medical opinions
• Willingness to complete required training (DMA certification, portal training) — note these are not reimbursed by client
• For per diem option: must live within a 50-mile radius of the assigned VES facility (per the CL) unless otherwise noted
• For provider office option: must have an operational office within 50 miles of the listed city to see Veterans

Knowledge & Skills

• Compensation & Pension (C&P) exam procedures and documentation
• Separation health assessment workflows
• Range of motion testing and muscle strength assessment techniques
• Interview-based clinical evaluation skills
• Medical exam report writing, including addendums and medical opinions
• Familiarity with reading diagnostics and integrating results into reports
• Comfort with credentialing/onboarding processes and portal-based documentation
