Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical care in a Level-IV NICU, managing high-acuity newborns with confidence
- Participate in 24/7 in-house coverage and attend deliveries as required
- Collaborate closely with neonatal nurse practitioners and the multidisciplinary pediatric subspecialty team
- Oversee newborn nursery admissions and work across newborn and NICU services
- Serve as a teaching clinician for medical students and residents, contributing to medical education
- Coordinate consultative care with pediatric subspecialists to ensure comprehensive infant care
- Cover, as needed, nearby Level-II NICU services to support regional neonatal care
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree and completion of an accredited Neonatology fellowship
- Board certified or board eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
- Eligible for or holding an active West Virginia medical license
- Ideal: 3+ years of experience in a busy Level-III/IV NICU (new graduates are also considered)
- Willingness and ability to provide 24/7 in-house coverage and attend deliveries
- Interest in teaching and the possibility of a Clinical Associate Professor appointment
- J-1 Visa candidates accepted; not accepting locum tenens candidates at this time
Education
- MD or DO with completed Neonatology fellowship (Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine)
- Board certified/board eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in Neonatology and Level-IV NICU management
- Strong newborn nursery and delivery attendance skills
- Experience working collaboratively with NNPs and multidisciplinary subspecialty teams
- Comfort in a teaching environment and mentoring learners (students/residents)
- Clinical judgment for high-acuity neonatal cases and consult coordination
- Flexibility to cover different levels of NICU care, including Level-II when needed
